Amazon is stricter than most platforms about phone numbers. Signup, logins from a new device, e-mail changes, payout settings and Seller Central checks all require a number that can receive SMS. Real SIM vs VoIP: what Amazon checks

Amazon screens the carrier type behind a number. Rejections usually come from three causes:

• VoIP ranges — internet numbers are commonly refused outright;
• Heavily used numbers — 'this phone number is already in use';
• Country mismatch — a US account with a non-US number raises risk scores.

Step-by-step: verifying an Amazon account

2. Copy the number — you get the number plus a private SMS link instantly;
3. Enter it on Amazon — include the +1 country code, no spaces or dashes;
4. Request the code once — it usually lands in 30-60 seconds in your private link and in the SMS center;
5. Submit the code — if Amazon asks again later, the same line can receive it.

Normally one number, one account. Amazon records the binding between number and account; reusing it for a second account usually returns 'number already in use' and can hurt the trust score of the first account.

• Single buyer account, short term — a 2-10 day tier is enough;
• Everyday account — 11-20 days, renew before expiry;

• Prepare company details, address and payout information before starting, so you do not trigger repeated verification rounds;
• Buy the longest tier and keep renewing — seller checks recur;
• Keep the login environment stable: same browser, same egress network;
• If Amazon offers a voice callback, answering it on the same line is more reliable than swapping.
